I've been working on some watercolours at school, and it's been quite relieving to be able to finish two final pieces so quickly. I am now certain that I prefer watercolours to oils; they're just so much easier to use, and dries faster too. I am all for practicality.

Actually, I used to hate using watercolours. I didn't like the way the paper always went bubbly and wrinkled. But my teacher showed me how to stretch paper, and now the end result is beautifully smooth and that makes me endlessly joyful. I also used to think that watercolours were inferior to oils, because I was under the impression that they didn't have as much texture and character. Then I saw the amazing Cherry Hood's watercolours and got 'inspired' I suppose.

She is magnificent :) I think I'm going to do a few more watercolours now, hopefully get a lot better at them.
